The World can be a mere rainbow away.

Following a successful event, party planner Sarah Dinetti meets Detective Frank Turner and feels an instant connection. A faithful and loyal friend and lover, she tries to ignore her feelings about Frank but when her current boyfriend begins to engage in some highly suspicious activities, Sarah turns to the handsome and oh so hot detective for help.  But can he protect her from herself?

Sarah swallowed. Did he know? What would he do? Would Frank figure it out?

Together they watched the movie. Neither speaking which was really just fine. At the fiery end, Kingston yawned, a jaw cracking yawn and Sarah pounced on it.

“Sounds like someone needs to get some sleep.”

He reached over and toyed with the ends of her hair. “Not that tired. I’m up for some things…or one thing.”

His grin turned her stomach. Something about it didn’t bode well.

She had to get out of there and at least get the pictures downloaded. Hopefully at least a couple of them would mean something.

Then again, maybe the accident and drugs really did skew what she heard that night.

“Wanna get up close and personal with little Kingston?”

“Um, well, I do. I’d really like to since we haven’t, you know, for awhile, but, Kingston, I have…well you know you don’t like having sex when it’s that time of the month.”

“Again?”

“Every month. If it doesn’t, you have something else to worry about.”

“Yeah. Yeah. Well I am tired. Were you planning to go home soon?”

Subtly was not the man’s strong suit. Tonight, however, it worked out well.

“Actually yeah. The Chinese hit the spot, but I am tired. Why don’t we get together for coffee in the morning or lunch?”

“That sounds good. You call me when you get up in the morning.”
A quick kiss and the door and Sarah all but ran to her car. He’d closed the door before she even reached it. What a jerk.

Still, she locked the door as soon as she was in and took off down the street. A few blocks later, Sarah pulled over, took out her phone and started moving through the pictures she’d taken.

“Bingo!” At least it looked like a bingo. The governor’s name appeared on several pages along with the name of one or two state senators. Another name she’d seen in the press appeared there, too.

Flipping to the pages taken from the cell phone, there were several calls to and from the capitol’s area code. Frank could check those numbers out. Maybe they didn’t mean anything, however, she tried and that had to count for something. She glanced at the clock and deciding it was too late to call the hunky detective, Sarah headed to the police station. She’d never had a photo disappear from her phone before, but these were potentially too important to just email or run the risk of losing. Besides, if Kingston picked up her phone tomorrow or any other time and any of them remained he’d definitely be suspicious. Hell, he’d know she was up to something and probably that Sarah’d spied on him.

This late at night the station had plenty of parking out front. She pulled into a spot and jogged up the stairs to the station. After ringing the buzzer and explaining she had something to leave for Detective Turner, one of the dispatchers buzzed her in. An officer greeted her at the front counter.

“Unless you have something explosive, you could have waited till morning,” he chided her.

“It could be explosive. I have some pictures for Detective Turner.”

“Pictures?” The officer looked like her efforts were a big waste of time.

“Yes. He’s working on a case…something that could be big and maybe a couple of these could be important.” She handed him the cellphone.  “I didn’t want to risk emailing them or the person whose house I took these at seeing I’d taken them.”

With a long, laboring sigh, the officer reached for the phone and started to slide through the photos. “Something about phone numbers of interest to Turner?”

“I’m not sure. You see…”

At that moment Frank strode into the lobby. “Sarah! When dispatch said there was a woman asking to see me, I wondered if it was you.”

“You waiting for this woman, Detective?”

“I was hoping to see Sarah, but didn’t think it would be this soon. Did you just stop by to say hello or…”

“Frank, Detective Turner. Maybe. I was at, you know whose, house tonight and…”

“Thanks, Dickey, I’ve got it.”
