When fate screws up and fails to bring soul-mates together, not all is lost. Her Fairy Fathers are here to save the day, whether they like it, or not.
Farron had been a bad boy...a playboy, who blamed his lack of connection to another, on Fate. But Fate has a twisted sense of humour and a special place for those who damn her, as her bitch, and she had a spot all marked out with Farron’s name on it. Tasked with fixing Fate’s screw-ups and helping those who have missed their moment to connect with their soul-mate, the pain of knowing he will never have that for himself is almost more than he can bear. But he does so, with a smile for each couple he unites. That is until he meets an untouched little man who makes him want to curse fate all over again, Ben. No matter how much he wishes it wasn’t so, Ben isn’t for him, though. He’s destined for another, Mason.
Mason fled Tasmania like the devil was on his heels, and it was. Tasmanian devil shifters, that is. As the only submissive devil shifter born, he is driven away, smuggling himself in the boot of a car aboard a ferry to the mainland, to escape the constant physical abuse at the hands of other male devils, over territorial rights. Alone and destitute, his life hits rock bottom as each day his life seeps away a little more. When a gorgeous dingo shifter shows up claiming to be his Fairy Father with promises of bringing him to his mate, Mason could have cried. Not in joy, but in grief. It seems fate has screwed up yet again...as Mason’s time has just run out.
“Hey! Stay with me, Mason! What did you take?” His angel was slapping his cheek, shaking his body and making the ache worse. He grumbled against the renewed pain, didn’t want to hurt. He just wanted all the suffering to end, but the man just wouldn’t stop shaking and slapping until Mason forced his eyelids to open and meet his gaze.
“That’s it, beautiful.”
The guy’s smile was dazzling, deep dimples framing his bright white teeth and wide plump lips. Mason managed a snort at the comment, though.
“Hey, don’t believe me? As soon as you tell me what you took, I’ll prove just how gorgeous you are by taking you to your mate. Now you need to tell me, what did you take?”
It was no use trying to move his arms. They had long given up the fight to respond and were numb to the shoulder. Instead, Mason looked in the direction of the kitchen sink, to the little shelf above, where the now half-full bottle of shifter-strength pain-killers sat. His angel followed his gaze, jumping to his feet as he rushed to the bottle and took it down, giving Mason a delicious glimpse of what were no doubt rock-hard buns beneath his frayed denim jeans. Damn...heaven knew what they were doing when they made this guy.
“Fuck... Please tell me you didn’t take a bunch of these!” His angel looked distraught as he shook the bottle at Mason. How could that be, though? He was here to guide him to his death, wasn’t he? He had to know that was where Mason was headed. He rushed over to Mason’s side again, pulling down one of his bottom eyelids and cursing again. “Why the fuck did you take these? Don’t you know what they will do? I came here to help you connect you with your mate...but I can’t do that if you’re overdosing to death!” The man’s eyes were wide, almost frightened looking as he cupped Mason’s cheeks between both hands and stared deep into his eyes.
“D-dying, mate rejected.” The words took a herculean effort, as another wave of darkness threatened to wash over him. Just typical. When a tiny thread of hope arrived, it was too late to do a damn thing to stop the inevitable. It didn’t matter if this guy had brought his mate with him, all naked with a pretty bow tied to his cock. There was nothing that could save him now, and the devastated look on his angel’s face said he knew it, too.
