After the Great Shift of 2012, Earth plunged into darkness and has now returned to light for the first time in over a thousand years. Thomas Vol is repulsed by the light, despite the fact his new wife thrives in it. When their son is born with features of the Reptilians who brought darkness to Earth in the first place, doubt is cast on Thomas and he is plunged into a world where nothing he sees seems real.
