What’s in a dream? Maybe nothing or everything. There’s certainly more to it when the same dream keeps recurring and can’t be ignored. Justin’s best friend Lucas suspects it has something to do with their upcoming holiday to Mykonos. He predicts something strangely wonderful is going to happen to Justin while they are there. But nothing could prepare Justin for what was in store for him.
When The 12 Gods fear that humans have learned to think for themselves, diminishing their Godly powers, four Gods are sent to Earth to find out what is really going on. Hesodo is particularly keen to go, but to accomplish a completely different mission—to find Justin and win him back. When Justin has a tragic accident, there is only one option, which results in Justin finding out more than he bargained for about his past love and history, teaching him that dreams should never be ignored.
At seven-thirty the alarm clock rang loudly in Justin’s ears. It was time for him to get up and get ready for work. As he threw the sheet back, he was relieved the air was a little cooler, which did not explain why the sheets were damp. When he looked down at himself, he realised it was not only the sheets that were wet. His underwear was, too. It was then he knew his man had come to him the night before.
While the reality of waking up alone in his bed without his man lying there beside him made him sad, he took reassurance in knowing he was not really alone.
He stripped the stained bed sheets and threw them in the washing machine. Quickly he grabbed fresh sheets from the wardrobe and re-made the bed. My goodness. He couldn’t believe what was going on. Why did this keep happening to him? This was the fourth time he’d had the dream in as many weeks, and there was no logical explanation for it.
Hurriedly he got in the shower and tried to wash the thought away. It was the end of the month billing period, and he had to prepare and crosscheck five hundred invoices today. While he was on the train he reminded himself to call Lucas when he got home from work, to tell him what had happened again. Even though Lucas would probably think he was mad, he had to talk to somebody about what was happening. It just wasn’t natural. Why did this keep happening to him?
The day passed quickly as Justin busied himself preparing the invoices and the excitement of thinking about his forthcoming holiday to Mykonos. He couldn’t wait, and Lucas told him almost daily that he really couldn’t wait as well.
Justin went to the gym after work, and as soon as he got home, he phoned Lucas. The phone just kept ringing, so he thought about calling his mobile. Just when he was about to hang up, Lucas answered.
“What do you want, you bitch? I thought you might give me a few minutes peace since we’ll very shortly be spending two weeks together.”
Justin’s tone turned serious. “Listen, I need to talk to you.”
“What about? Whatever it is, you sound pretty shaken up.”
“No, I’m not shaken up, but guess what happened again last night?”
“Oh, please don’t tell me what I think you’re going to tell me.”
“Yep. Exactly the same thing again.”
“Justin, what’s going on with you?”
“I don’t know. I love it, but it’s freaking me out.”
“Were you drinking last night?”
“No, I didn’t touch a drop.”
“Oh shit. Okay, so go on, babe. Tell me what happened.”
Justin shuffled uncomfortably in his seat trying to find the right words. “What can I tell you? It was exactly the same. But this time, it was even more intense and meaningful.”
“Fuck me, Justin, I think you’re losing the plot.”
“Oh, please don’t say that. Please, you’re the only person I can talk to about this.”
“Okay. Okay. So start from the beginning. Was it the same guy, and was it in the same place?”
“Yes! Exactly the same guy and in exactly the same place, but each time it gets more real.”
“What do you mean real?”
Justin paused and blew out a breath, knowing how Lucas would react. “I had a fucking wet dream last night!”
Justin tensed when he heard his friend’s uncontrollable laughter.
When Lucas had finally controlled himself, he came back to the conversation. “You had a fucking what? A fucking wet dream at your age? You have got to be kidding me.”
“No, I’m not. I had a frigging wet dream, and the worst thing about it was—it was absolutely amazing. Oh Lucas, what the hell’s going on with me?”
“I don’t know, babe, but whoever he is, please send him over to me now and again! I could do with some of that every once in a while. I feel as bloody dry as the Sahara Desert at the mo, babe.”
“Ha-ha-ha, Lucas. It’s not a laughing matter. It keeps happening, and I don’t understand why.”
“I’d go with the flow if I were you, babe. It sounds like he’s given you a much better servicing than most of the guys we’ve met.”
“That’s not the point, Lucas. This is serious. I feel like I’ve fallen in love with the guy and I have no fucking clue who he is or why he keeps popping into my head.”
“Okay, I’m sorry. I didn’t realise it was affecting you so much.”
“Well, it is.”
“I don’t know, hon. Maybe aliens are invading your brain and they’re gonna come and get you and take you off to some galaxy unknown to man and use you as their sex slave. Maybe they’re just trying you out in dreams first to make sure they’re going to choose the right guy.”
Justin could hear Lucas laughing hysterically at his own joke. “Stop being such a prick, Lucas, and try and offer some real support, will you?”
