Viola Grace was born in Manitoba, Canada where she still resides today. She really likes it there.

She has no pets and can barely keep sea monkeys alive for a reasonable amount of time.

In keeping with busy hands are happy hands, her hobbies have included cross-stitch, needlepoint, quilting, costuming, cake decorating, baking, cooking, metal work, beading, sculpting, painting, doll making, henna tattoos, chain mail, and a few others that have been forgotten. It is quite often that these hobbies make their way into her tales.

Viola’s fetishes include boots and corsetry, and her greatest weakness is her uncontrollable blush.

Her writing actively pursues the Happily Ever After that so rarely occurs in nature. It is an admirable thing and something that we should all strive for. To find one that we truly like, as well as love.

Col wants nothing more than normality, but being forced to fly in public causes her to be bound by law.  ...

Colah shouted when the icy burn of the bullet ran through her left shoulder and knocked her off her tenuous perch.

She heard screams from Cabbili and Makki but was unable to concentrate on anything other than saving her own life.

Making a choice between life and freedom in a hundred feet was no contest. If she had her life, she could pursue freedom later.

With the propulsion of muscle and mind, she changed her trajectory and lifted her body into the air in a graceful arc. She returned to the rooftop where her sister and niece were clutching each other, sobbing together.

“Cabbi, I am so sorry. They will come for me right away, but know that I love you both and always will. Makki, do your homework and always listen to your mom. She may not be right, but she deserves respect for putting up with your dad all these years.”

Makki sobbed and then smiled, “Aunt Col, you can fly.”

“Yes, sweetie, I can fly. And now, I can be arrested with as much dignity as I can manage.” She pressed a kiss to Makki’s forehead and hugged her sister.

The door to the roof burst open as the guards surged in to round up any residual thieves. Once they determined that there was no additional danger, the guard in charge approached her.

He held out wide manacles and gestured for her to turn around. As he locked her arms behind her back, he spoke the words she had been dreading for years. “As you are a physical talent, I now order you to be bound by law and remanded to the dome for confinement. Your restriction begins immediately.”

Col wants nothing more than normality, but being forced to fly in public causes her to be bound by law.

Physical talents are illegal on Resicor, they fear an uprising and so lock their active talents away.

Col knows her talent for flight can get her arrested and if she dares to show it in public, her life will end in the dome.

A robbery at a museum ends up with her being thrown off a roof and it is fly for her life or die a free woman. She negotiates with herself swiftly and decides that freedom might be possible if she can live to see it.

Ysyr is on retrieval duty when he meets his first Resicor and she knocks him and his instincts on their backsides. Life with this woman might be awkward, but being without her is intolerable from the moment she put her trusting hand in his.

The storm was wild. She clutched the baby to her chest and ran through the rain.

She had been given five minutes to get her child to safety and her lack of control had caused her to overshoot the landing site. Now, she had to run.

The woman set the child against the gate in the shelter of an overhang, and she rang the bells with all her might. Her keeper was coming for her to resume her training. This was the only moment in the entire span of time that she wanted.

Her daughter needed to be safe.

A figure appeared next to her and she was hauled away before she knew that her daughter was safe. She screamed as she was taken away and then fell silent. Her daughter had heard that scream twice today. The first time had been when she died.

The monk opened the door as the blood-curdling scream faded in the air. The smaller, more insistent shout came from the bundle at his feet. He leaned down and lifted her in his arms. “Hello, little one. Did you make all that noise?”

The baby looked at him with eyes in a purple so dark they looked to be deep brown. She blinked and slurped her fist.

The monk lifted his hand and light covered it, illuminating their new arrival. The baby waved her fist in the air and it glowed in reaction.

“Oh dear, little one. You have a lot of power in that tiny body.”

She waved both fists and both glowed. She giggled and then burped. He brought her inside to the warmth and shelter of the temple. Sister Esrai would know what to do with her.

Twenty-three years later, Lieta was hauling in the harvest with the monks and acolytes when a blast struck the ground near her feet.

“You. Manager.”

She turned to face the young man with the dark soul and blacker temper. “Redol, right?”

“She talked about me, did she? The stupid bitch.”

Well, she had guessed right. “Ah, so you are Venila’s ex-boyfriend. You are everything she said.”

Lieta moved away from the wagon and toward the intruder, into the monastery’s property. “What did you want?”

“I want Venila back. Give her to me.”

“She is not a slave, nor is she owned by the monastery. She can come and go as she pleases, but she is choosing to live there and take vows to serve others.”

Lieta kept easing to one side until there was nothing to strike behind her.

“She is mine. She will come back to me.”

“Oh, I do not think so. She will remain where she is safe. Where a jackass with a bad temper will not cow her and make her feel like nothing has happened because her healing talent takes over the wounds.”

“Then she will be working on you tonight, bitch.” He extended his hand and a ball of whirling wind emerged. With a clumsy shove, he directed it at her.

She shook her head, caught it and sent it back with a tight, hard ball of whirling air that struck him straight in the chest.

Born to mimic any talent she sees, Lieta is asked for help in taking down those of her own kind. A new career in Breaking Gods.

Abandoned at the doors of an abbey, Lieta began life with knowledge of how to use any talent she was in contact with. As she grew, so did her collection of accessible power.
When the Citadel came to the abbey to ask for her assistance, she was astonished to learn she was not only not the only one of her kind, but she was one of the only sane ones. Her species enjoys being worshipped and that is rarely a good result for their people.
Lieta has to stop them, nullify them and make sure that they won’t hurt others. Running into one of her previous arrests and finding out that she is expected to let him be her shadow is a shock.
Muraz once fancied himself a god, but after being shown that he was not alone, he has decided that working with the only being more powerful than himself might be educational

General Hinlior stepped out with his troops, and he paused. There were just over a dozen warriors facing him.

“Recon, do a life-sign check. Something isn’t right.”

He was used to fighting a ferocious population. Sixteen warriors were not even worth the sweat.

“General. The sixteen warriors before you is the complete complement of the colonists.”

He raised his fist, and his warriors returned to the vessel without saying a word.

“Send out an EMP. We don’t need to destroy this handful. They can be sent to the mines.”

“Understood, General. EMP deployed.”

The shielded ship sealed before it launched, but Hinlior felt the change in the environment the moment that the pulse struck.

“Confirm clearance?”

“They are down.”

General Hinlior lifted his fist again and called forty of his men with a simple gesture. The ship opened, and they stomped out to retrieve the fallen bodies of the last trespassers on their world.

Saloa hissed and tried to move against the metal holding her in place. She had been prepared to die tonight, but she had not been prepared to be pinned to the ground like a bug.

The dark figures approached, and she glared up at the man standing over her via her face shield. Another figure ran some kind of scanner over the guard to her left before he turned to her. Whatever the machine told him got him excited.

The man staring down at her jerked his head toward the man who was babbling, and whatever the man with the scanner said, it decided something. The first man hauled her up and flipped her over his shoulder. Her suit was dead, and she was running out of air.

Prepared to die for her people, she is ready for a fight, but what she gets is an imprisonment that evolves into something unexpected.
Saloa is in charge of the last group of guards for her people. They were unable to join the exodus that took their people away from their home, but they are prepared to die for their home.
General Hinlior was ready to fight an entire city but only sixteen armoured warriors were waiting for him. He disabled them and the medic’s scan showed the surprising discovery of a Life Bringer in the mix. One breedable female is found, and it is reason for excitement among their people.
If only he had known that Saloa was a hand-to-hand combat specialist, he might just have thought twice before separating her from the other prisoners.

Fayra Maimas sat up with a cough. The medical bay was empty and hers was the only cryo tube visible.

“Lay back, Ms. Maimas. We had to bring you out of cryo early. Your people need you.” The bot trundled up to her and examined her closely. “You seem to have come through the sleep without damage.”

“Oh good.” Fayra listened for the throb of the engines, but she didn’t hear anything. “Have we landed somewhere?”

“You will be briefed as soon as you are fit for this assignment.”

“Wait, what assignment? I am not in the military; I am a teacher for pities’ sake.” She coughed again.

“Irrelevant. You have been assessed to be the most suitable for this assignment, so you have been woken.”

Fayra waited for four hours while her body was balanced with supplements and she hydrated. She was just about to get up and go exploring when the bot trundled back in with a tray covered in folded fabric.

“Put this on. The briefing room has been prepared with the necessary vids.”

“Where is the briefing room?”

The medical bot’s face would have rolled its eyes if it had any, she was certain. “Deck four, room three twenty-eight.”

She stuck her tongue out at the bot and took the tray of clothing. It wasn’t standard issue. There was a bodysuit in white and a long ankle-length tabard in a gauzy white. A belt of black leather cinched around her hips and kept the tabard in place.

A pair of soft white boots covered her feet and ankles.

She didn’t have any way of brushing her hair, so she simply braided it and tied the end in a knot. It swung against the middle of her back as she made her way to deck four.

The interior of the ship was eerie. There was not one other set of footsteps in the entire place. Everyone was still asleep on the cryo decks. She was walking through a ghost ship, and ironically, she was the one wearing white.

A sleeping beauty wakes to find five Fire Bringers waiting for her to choose one as a mate.
Fayra’s colony ship has been waiting for five years for the Anvin to allow any of their personnel to wake. She is the first one to wake up, and she is also the only one. She is briefed on her situation—she must prove her species’ worth in order to earn a place on this new world. To do that, she needs a mate, a child and nerves of steel.
The five Fire Bringers never imagined that they would have a chance at a mate, let alone a family. They have to use their charms to win Fayra’s favour and all without touching her. It is a challenge they must rise to or lose their chance at a child of their own.

Sobi reloaded and checked her monitor. A slow grin spread across her face when the steady beep began and the dot began to move with the cloud. “Gotcha.”

She laughed and settled on her cycle, kicking the engine into motion on the downhill slope. With a satisfied grin, she returned to the dark dome of the city. The hunters would have easy targets for their hunts later in the day. If they chose to monitor the traffic patterns of the creatures she had tagged, they could do that too. She didn’t care; it was time for a shower and some sleep.

Passing from the blazing light to the relief off the darkness was always a surprise. She flicked up the shaded lenses on her goggles, and her eyes adjusted to the dimness within Shadow City.

Sobi drove through the streets and pulled up outside the tagger station. With a jaunty grin, she swaggered inside and handed over her crossbow and her remaining charges. “Here you go. I tagged nine groups of desert animals.”

She unbuckled her tracking unit. “Here, the tags were all solid sets, so they should still be transmitting.”

Goran was a Prothean, like Sobi. He sighed and shook his head. “We are going to miss you when the call comes.”

Sobi blushed and her stomach went cold at the same time. “It hasn’t happened yet. I am just in the candidate pool.”

Goran’s assistant chipped in from the back of the station. “The commander from the new city arrived today, so you know that he has to be hunting for a wife.”

Goran wrinkled his nose and shrugged in acknowledgement. “That is the rumour. You might be called upon.”

Sobi felt a headache coming on. “I came here first to drop off my weaponry this time. I am guessing that that was a mistake.”

Goran chuckled, checked her signals and transferred her payment to her account. “Thanks for the hard signals. Most have been dropping.”

“The other taggers just don’t want it enough. All right, I need to get a shower and head to dinner. I am starving.”

“Job well done. You earned a few days off before you head out again.” Goran winked an invitation.

“Let me know what my energy level is like tomorrow.”

It wasn’t a no, but it wasn’t a yes.

She hoped he was satisfied with the answer as she slipped out of the tagger base. Back on her bike, she took the short trip to her home and parked the cycle in its pod. Once she had taken care of her treasure, she headed up to her apartment and loosened the straps of her coveralls on the way. She was about to unzip her suit as the doors opened to her quarters, but there was a stranger standing in the middle of her living room.

“May I help you?”

The man turned, and he was obviously not Prothean. He looked her over from head to toe and didn’t say a word.

“Anvin emissaries don’t often break into my quarters. What are you doing here?”

“You are Sobi Nurala?”

“I am. Tagger extraordinary.” She smiled.

“Your presence is requested at the main hall this evening to meet the Midnight. You are his best match.”

Traded to the Anvin as a bride, she doesn’t have the heart to tell them she has already chosen.
Sobi enjoys the solitude of darting animals to track behaviour and migration. When she heads home for a quick check-in, she is a little perturbed to find that her presence is required for the Anvin dignitary in need of a wife.
She dresses appropriately, and when she faces the man behind the shadows, she recognises the man that she linked herself to years earlier.
Midnight is a silly nickname, but Aloss is willing to let the Protheans call him whatever they like as long as they hand over his mate.
