Beth learned one thing first before she began running—never help a shifter. Remember that old saying...no good deed goes unpunished.

Well, she hadn't actually meant to help him. He'd been injured and taken advantage of her, so she helped him the first time, and because of this, she lost her job and career. Great—now she's running, and she desperately hopes she'll never see the strange man again. Why, then, is she so haunted with a strange memory of his eyes changing to those of a cat?

When he finds her again and needs her help, Beth does what's necessary to get rid of him and helps him get his funds, but she's left with a strange bite mark and the memory of a huge black cat in the night above her in her bed. Now she's running with determination not to have him find her ever again. He is more than merely strange—she knows he's a threat to her in ways she doesn't want to admit.

Beth runs from the black ghost through Indian Reservations, across archeological digs in the northwest, down to the lost areas of poorer Mexico, through jungles and back into the giant towering buildings of bustling cities.

Yet, wherever she goes, a black ghost haunts her dreams and sends a sexual pull she cannot turn off.

Her anger had got her this far but she looked at where her finger was pointing and saw the jacket covering the ugly black weapon. What the hell was she thinking? She looked back and bit her bottom lip. She watched him rise up from the counter and start to move towards her. The movement was like a jungle cat, all the muscles in his long body flowing together, a slow graceful motion that was without sound but was with amazing strength.

She knew when she saw real danger and real danger was approaching her now. Not only that but his eyes had changed. She backed up, not daring to look away. She felt the corner of her couch brush her one leg and she moved sideways so as not to fall. She gasped as he had moved so fast he had her pinned against the wall, his hard body supporting her, feeling as solid as the sheetrock in the wall behind her.

She was staring into those strange eyes, everything in her mind had quit working. Later she would rethink this whole situation and wonder if she was under some thrall but at this moment, looking at the eyes that had changed, she knew it was not contacts. His eyes had changed, no white showed, only that old gold with the radiating black lines coming out from the center black slits that were like cat eyes.

She was breathing, but she felt she was not taking in enough oxygen to fill her body, she felt a tremor start from the entire contact and she could not even fight. He had pulled her up as well as holding her confined. She did not think her feet were on the floor. She did not know when her arms had slipped under his, to hang onto his back, but she could feel his ribs expand as he took in a deep inhalation. She understood that he was smelling her. He had his face deep into her hair, just above her ear. She heard the sigh he made. It was so soft and so different from the hardness of his body and from the hold he had on her.

She felt the heat of his body, it felt warmer like he have a fever. She felt the growth of his manhood as it filled out and was pressing into her belly. To her surprise she also felt her own response. A heat began to grow between her legs and she knew that the tips of her breasts were knotting up almost painfully.

He shifted and had a muscular thigh between her legs and she felt the seams of her jeans being pushed deeply into her cunt. Her mind had shut down and her body was in charge and this was not Beth. Beth was a computer accountant who did not get much fun from sex, did not really like sex. But this body was feeling the hot thigh that she was almost riding and the rough material causing a pulsing into her lips and she knew moisture was slipping from her body.

She looked up as he lifted his head and he took a deep intake of air through his nostrils, making them flair as she was frozen, watching that beautiful male face.
